I agree with you Dhugasa. However, sometimes I feel like we quite a few issues on our plate that needs to be dealt with:

1. We need to address the type of work we do: I believe that African's need to start working on stuff that matters- if we are still spending out time fighting over religious views and ownerships of property then we will always have a ways to go. African countries need to privatize and stop the stupid Nationalism craze that has taken over the entire continent

2. How we do our work: In the global economy peasant farming just doesn't scale. African farmers are being forced to compete against other farmers from the rest of the world where mechanization is the language of the trade. To get us back on the map of global trade, African needs to move up in technology.

3. Young Africans need to start thinking about long term issues- many of the young gals and guys in Africa are not spending their time thinking about how to create companies and create wealth. Majority of them are still trying to get the latest gizmos used by their counterparts in other parts of the world. It'll take quite a while before we can get to that place where we can live up to western tastes and fads.

4. To end poverty, we need to focus on food creation, which goes back to my first point (1), we really need to move up in our technological use and stop reliance on the government to fix everything.

5. Socialism must die! Africans need to be reminded that they have to provide for themselves and stop relying on the government to provide for them!

I'd like to know what other people think about this.
